As we drive into the office and huddle around the coffee pot in an
effort to wake up, a question come to mind... why do we always feel tired
at the start of the week, even after a restful and relaxing weekend?
It is a common occurrence and called "Sunday Night Insomnia."
To be well rested we should look to babies and infants for some quick
advice. Little ones follow schedules – up at 7 a.m., nap from 1 p.m. to
2 p.m. and then down for the night at 8 p.m. Parents try at all costs
to never break the routine as it could take weeks to restore.
Adults should be no different in the way they approach sleep. "Sunday Night Insomnia" is the result of sleeping in on the weekends.
Even an extra hour on Saturday and Sunday morning is enough to disrupt
a sleep schedule keeping us up late on Sunday night leading to less
sleep to start the week.
It is a common saying but rings true - early to bed and early
to rise makes us healthy, wealthy and wise. We can’t confirm the
wealthy aspect, but we know you will feel better both mentally and
physically if you start your own sleep schedule.
